Chennai Metro Rail System

Corridor 1---- Underground line
Corridor 2--------- Elevated line

I was very happy to read this news in the newspaper. By 2013 or 2014, the metro rail system for Chennai will be established. When I went to New Delhi, I went in the metro train. The Delhi metro rail system was excellent with both underground and elevated paths. I went only in elevated path and not in underground path. The journey was awesome. Now the same metro rail system is going to be established in Chennai. Similar to Delhi, both underground and elevated systems are proposed in Chennai metro rail system. It covers many hotspots of Chennai like Chennai central, Egmore, CMBT, Airport etc… The metro plan has been divided into three phases out of which the construction of first two phases will begin this year. The railway line covering the places in anna salai will be underground. The third phase construction will cover areas like T.Nagar. The project cost is estimated to be around 9000 crores. Cost per km of underground line is Rs 300 crore and elevated line is Rs 100 crore. About 20km out of 46 km line will underground line.

It will be nice if we get a Train link in OMR up to siruseri from Thiruvanmiyur or indira nagar.. This will avoid lots of accidents in OMR.
