Golden Temple officially called Harmandhir Sahib or Dardar Sahib is located in Amritsar(Punjab). Golden temple was constructed by Guru Arjun Dev in 1604 using Sikh architecture. It took nearly 14 years to complete the construction.
There are four entrances to this temple. The temple is surrounded by a large lake of water which is considered as holy water. People visiting golden temple can drink the lake water which will be given by the temple officials in a bowl. There is a museum inside the temple which describes the history of golden temple. Beautiful designs of flowers can be seen on the temple (see the photographs). It will be very nice to see a golden gigantic temple standing in the center of a lake. Please do visit this place if you go to amritsar.
