Superfast train AGV

The AGV (Automotrice Grande Vitesse) train which can travel at up to 360km/h was unveiled in France. The train was made by the engineering giants Alstom. French President Nicolas Sarkozy attended the launch of a new high-speed train. The AGV is a successor to the TGV. In terms of importance and innovation, Alstom compares the AGV with the Airbus 380. One of the important features of AGV is that there are engines under each carriage unlike TGV which has end to end engines. This makes AGV a high speed railcar. In addition to this, the AGV is built fully by Alstom and they didn’t get any help from the state rail firm SNFC. Previously constructed TGV was built with the help funds from SNFC. TGV’s current maximum speed is 320 km/h. Now AGV can go up to 360 km/h. AGV’s motors energy efficient, innovative, less maintenance and allows more passenger space. It consumes 30% less energy and has 20% extra space than TGV. AGV can carry 700 people seated. Italian operator have already bought AGV and will operate in Italy by 2011.
